. . . is my valiant attempt at blogging about these THREE special little boys. hopefully, it will help our loved ones to keep up with us, and help me to remember these days that are flying by way to fast. enjoy!!
When I think about Gabriel and Christian of course I think they are terrific kids, but do I really tell them they're terrific. Do my actions on a daily basis reinforce the fact that I think both my boys are terrific?
I had the privilege a couple of weeks ago to attend the terrific kids presentation at Gabriel's school. As I sat there I heard all the great things that Gabe's classmates had to say about him my heart was filled with joy about how God is working on his heart. Gabe is bright, well behaved, and a natural leader and I'm very excited to see what God has in store for one of his terrific kids.
When I got home from work yesterday Christian had something very important to show me. With a huge smile, and a puffed out chest Christian proceeded to ride his bike down the road with no training wheels.
I have to admit that my heart was a little sad. My baby boy is growing up....
Having families in two different parts of the country always proves interesting around the Holidays.
This year we celebrated ThanksChristmas with the Powell side of the family. ThanksChristmas is when you have Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving and Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. This gives us a chance to still celebrate Christmas with family we won't see for quite some time.
After ThanksChristmas we celebrated Christmas with the DeWalk side of the family. We spent 4 days in Ohio with the white Christmas.... For me Christmas in Ohio is special - it's hectic now with long days in cramped houses but it really brings back memories of special times at Christmas with my Grandparents, Mom and Dad, Sisters and all the Aunts and Uncles.
We then traveled with the family to my parents house and spent 4 days in Pennsylvania. While in PA I had the opportunity to get sick, I will spare you the details on the sick part but it wasn't any fun. We also had the change to go snowtubing - I was a little skeptical of going tubing since I really wanted to be skiiing but after a few runs we were all having fun.
Christian wanted to try playing basketball this year and today (12/18/2010) he scored his very first basket. They don't really keep score at this age but shhhh.....I really know we won 6 nothing.
I'm sure there will be many more, but we are so very proud of our little man.

so every year. . . we leave the cookies out for santa. every year. . . santa fills the stockings on christmas morning. every year. . . santa leaves a note for the boys. and every year. . . the boys ask if santa is real. our response is always the same. "it's just a fun thing we pretend at Christmas." no other details. . . just plain and simple. . . we pretend. they have never asked any more questions.
well. . . yesterday when i picked christian (5 yrs old) up from preschool his teacher pulled me aside. she told me that christian had told the other kids at the lunch table that santa wasn't real. he said, "santa doesn't eat those cookies, your mom does." oops!!
needless to say, we had a little talk about keeping that to ourselves. here's hoping that good ole santa clause still visits the dewalk household this year!! =)
